Summit Register

Hill finder

Filter all 1,140 hills in the register by list, country, county, height and drop, see where they are, and tick off the ones you have climbed to track your progress on each list.

Heights are in metres; 3,000 ft is 914.4 m and 2,000 ft is 609.6 m. Hills on a county boundary are recorded under both counties together.

How to use it

Choose a list, a country or a county, set a height range or a minimum drop, and the table and map update straight away. The default view is every Munro, highest first; without JavaScript the table shows the ten highest. Change the sort to drop or isolation to bring the most prominent or most remote hills to the top. Every hill name links to its full profile, with its skyline, neighbours and survey record.

To keep a record, tick the box in the first column of any row. A hill you tick counts towards every list it belongs to, so ticking Scafell Pike adds one to the Wainwrights, Hewitts, Nuttalls, Furths, Marilyns and county tops at once. Set “Show” to “Not yet climbed” to see only the hills you still have to do. A worked example of each filter is in the guide How to use the hill finder and bagging tracker.

What the numbers mean

  • Height: the summit's height above sea level in metres, as published in the Database of British and Irish Hills.
  • Drop: how far the summit rises above its key col, the lowest point on the way to any higher summit. A Marilyn needs at least 150 m. See What prominence (drop) means, with real figures.
  • Isolation: the straight-line distance to the nearest higher summit among all 21,539 hills in the database. Ben Nevis has none.
  • Progress: your ticks as a count of the hills of each list profiled here. For Donalds (31 of 88), Hewitts (275 of 522), Nuttalls (193 of 441), Furths (15 of 34), Marilyns (885 of 2,007) and county tops (51 of 111) the register holds only the members that are also Munros, Wainwrights or Marilyns of 600 m or more, so the count is of those.

For example, 10 Munros reach 1,200 m or more: set the list to Munros and “Height from” to 1200. The finder sorts and counts; it gives no route, safety, weather or access information, and is not a substitute for a map.
